Adventure snorkeling in the Marine Reserve for All Ages + Guided Tours
Go Snorkel operates from the premises of Island Bay Divers. The shop is located on the corner of The Parade and Reef St in Island Bay; (353 The Parade).
People who use only a snorkel when diving are typically in one of three groups:
Snorkelers – main activity is exploring, usual dive depth limit 5m.
Skin divers – main activity is hunting & gathering – spearfishers/ cray/ paua, dive to 10m.
Freedivers – usually have training in freedive techniques – dive beyond 10m.
This website concentrates on the South Coast reserve area and is an introduction for novice snorkelers wanting to use the reserve.

Why Go Snorkel?

Location
we are in the middle of the Marine Reserve. The 5km long reserve is one of the best snorkel and dive spots in Wellington, teeming with crayfish, octopuses, and many species of fish and kelp. Click here for more information on the reserve. |

Convenience & family friendly
We are based 20m from the final stop on the #1 bus route running from Churton Park, through the CBD and Newtown to Island Bay. A cycle lane runs in front of the shop. We have two off road car parks for pickup & drop down of hire gear. For non diving family members there is a park opposite us with a large childrens' playground . Island Bay beach (bordering the park) is one of Wellington's most popular beaches. Within 50m of us there is a cafe, a dairy and a fish 'n chip / Chinese take aways. |
