Why  Snorkel?

Why would I  snorkel ? - What’s in it for me?

You may be an experienced traveler, but if you haven’t journeyed into the underwater regions of the other two thirds of your planet, your travels are not yet complete.

See our training page for details

The easiest way to enter the rest of the blue planet is via snorkelling.  you can teach yourself but....
like golf or tennis, the fastest/ easiest way to reach your full potential and enjoyment is through practice and training via a course. We have been training skin divers since 197O. There are plenty of divers who are in their seventies diving for fitness, fresh food & a love of the sea, with lots of kids seven years old or less at their side. Anyone can be a great snorkeller.
Wearing a wetsuit means you are in a 'SKIN' of warm water, floating because ...
suits are buoyant. You are an astronaut weightless in inner space. And it’s the safest way to build water confidence. It’s an activity for the whole family, no winners or losers here, unlike rugby or basketball.  It’s a non-contact sport. Fitness comes with experience but there’s no need to feel you should keep up with the rest of the group. Skin diving is about going at your own pace and being in your own space.
It offers exercise in 3 dimensions, in a world without gravity. This has a lot of benefits ...
You can unwind all the areas of your body snorkeling - twisting and turning over 360 degrees. Dive like a seal, barrel rolls and looping for stretching those hard to get at areas. Exiting from a dive you will be comfortably fatigued & relaxed. This is a sport where size and strength don't count.
Leave behind the clutter of everyday life and escape into the silent ...
world beneath the waves.  You glide through the whole dive - swoop down and slip into forests, skate & drift across deserts, hover or zoom through valleys. Fish will come to watch and follow you.
This sport has so many ‘add on’ activities you can enjoy as well - photography & ...
videography (we run courses), marine biology and botany, health benefits & relaxation, harvesting and hunting food (but not in the ‘no take’ reserve).
Plus, if you are planning at some point learn to Scuba dive, snorkeling is the best preparation for this. We have been training divers longer than anyone in Wellington.
